Of the 943 Super Duty Trans ams produced in 1974, only 212 received the highly sought after 4 speed transmission. This Buccaneer Red over White Deluxe Horseshoe bucket seat interior is one of the few remaining 212 4 speed cars. Even more impressive is this was the go fast model with few options, roll up windows, no AC (you could not get AC in a speed Superduty). This is an un-restored original car with prior history of owners dating back 20 years. The original numbers matching W8 Code SD Sits in the same spot under the red SD Shaker Hood that it was placed in 1974.  This SD Trans am has been stored in a climate controlled garage and only driven several thousand miles in the past 20 years. The car has received one repaint in its entire life and the addition of a stock location performance muffler, only these items are non-original to this unmolested car. Not a stitch of rust exists on this car from top to bottom. This SD 455 is tuned properly and runs like Scalded Dog! No choked up de-tuned garage queen here, this car is well maintained to run like you would expect a SD to run.

In early 1973 to mid 1974 Pontiac engineers managed to slip the production of this absolute Rocket Ship past the GM Corporate Brass. Keep in mind this was at a time when the GM, Ford and Chrysler were all dropping compression to meet new emissions standards and dealing with an Oil Embargo, Pontiac comes out with the strongest running Trans AM ever. The amazing part of this story is they did this on a 8.5:1 compression motor. The SD 455 was rated at 290 Horsepower by GM, but in reality was more like 375 hp. The SD 455 was not just a upgraded version of the Pontiac 455, it was a completely different engine from the Carb to the Crank.  Unique to the SD 455 were the Heads, Block, cam, distributor, intake manifold, crank, Rods, valves, exhaust manifolds, etc. No other production car in GM history had such a unique one off motor as the SD455.

The SD 455 could run the standing ¼ mile at close to 13 seconds flat at 109MPH, those numbers will hold their own with any production LS6 Chevelle or Hemi Car.

The Super Duty program was shut down in 74 with a total of 943 SD Trans Am's making it into the public hands that year and receiving the X in the 5 position of the vin.
